University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Application
Details
Posted: 20-May-26
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Internal Number: 277842
The planned activity for this recruitment is to strengthen the PROWHD lab's scientific capacity to design, execute, and disseminate behavioral research addressing the intersection of reproductive health and disability. The Assistant Research Scientist will make substantive scholarly contributions across an active portfolio of trials and mixed-methods studies, including refining study aims and designs, integrating qualitative and quantitative components, and ensuring methodological rigor from study start-up through analysis and publication. A core focus of the role will be measurement and theory development, including development/refinement of study instruments and protocols, planning and conducting pilot testing and psychometric/validity assessments as appropriate, and contributing to the development and articulation of conceptual frameworks that guide intervention development and interpretation of findings. The role will also contribute to scientific products (e.g., abstracts, manuscripts, presentations) and to the translation of findings into future research directions.
In parallel, the Assistant Research Scientist will provide project oversight, supporting research staff who carry out participant recruitment, enrollment, and data collection. This includes developing and maintaining standardized procedures and training materials, monitoring recruitment and data collection progress and fidelity, troubleshooting implementation challenges, and coordinating study documentation and reporting needs to ensure timely completion of milestones.
Finally, the position will expand the lab's capacity to develop new research proposals by contributing to proposal conceptualization and writing (e.g., background/significance, specific aims support, study design and measurement plans, and mixed-methods analytic approaches) and other tasks needed to produce competitive submissions.
Demonstrated expertise conducting research in women's health at the intersection of disability.
Demonstrated experience in patient-reported outcome measure development, including item writing and refinement, cognitive testing, and psychometric analysis.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, study materials, regulatory documents, and professional correspondence for varied audiences.
PhD in a health-related field such as rehabilitation science, health services research, psychology, or a related discipline.
