Under general medical and administrative direction, the Manager of the Acute Care and Rehab Therapies will plan, organize, and direct a large and complex acute care and rehabilitation service, which entails multi-discipline sections, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, and neuro-psychology and works with the department medical or staff managerial head while exercising full administrative and managerial responsibility for the service and will have all inpatient Rehabilitation Services 1&2 Supervisors in the acute care and rehab setting as direct reports.
Additionally, the Manager of Acute Care and Rehab Therapies assists the manager in developing department revenue and expense budget, organizes and assists the manager in controlling department expense budget, staff, space and equipment; make final decisions regarding employee recruitment, selection, work assignment, evaluation and disciplining; developing quality assurance standards, including mechanisms for meeting the standards and tools for measuring adherence to them; interpret, implement and assure compliance with related governmental and hospital regulations and guidelines as they affect the physical therapy department; and in addition, may provide consultation and training regarding department standards for patient care.
Previous supervisory experience in an acute care and/or rehab setting.
Experience with clinical practice regulatory knowledge in a rehabilitation setting.
Experience with industry best practices in patient diagnosis and treatment to improve clinical workflows.
Experience with hospital and HR policies and processes.
Experience relevant rehabilitation industry patient care/equipment management federal, state, and local laws and any regulatory or compliance pertaining to the rehabilitation service.
Experience with employee supervision and HR administration.
Experience resolving personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships.
Previous experience managing a complex, high volume, patient workload in a patient care setting.
Must be able to be flexible, anticipate, and effectively handle change.
Previous experience managing a division operation in an efficient and effective manner through improving rehabilitation processes, procedures, and systems.
Must have interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff.
Experience problem-solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution. Demonstrates sound judgment.
Experience communicating with patients and educating them on their treatment.
Must be able to actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.
Expert level experience using Epic, EMR or similar patient care documentation systems.
Knowledge of available information technology software in the industry.
Must be able to collaborate within and across departments to integrate daily rehabilitation patient care activities and resolve problems.
Master’s degree in related field.
Licensed in related rehabilitation service is required
Bachelor’s degree in related are and/or equivalent experience/training required.
