The Postdoctoral Scholar will be engaging in exciting new studies on how semen mediates tolerance to pregnancy pre-conception. Work will involve profiling tolerogenic phenotypes of antigen-presenting cells and of human tissue samples using multiple assays, including high parameter flow cytometry, metabolic profiling, transcriptional analysis, and T cell receptor sequencing.
This is a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position on an annual, 12-month appointment. Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. The successful candidate will work closely with an early-stage PI and a small team in a highly collaborative environment. They will plan and perform experiments, write manuscripts, and participate in and present research findings at local and national meetings. Some administrative tasks such coordinating sample transport and ordering supplies will be expected.
The candidate must self-motivated, show initiative, and be willing to independently acquire new skills. Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and communication skills are essential to success.
Anticipated start date is July 1, 2021.
Ph.D. and/or M.D. or foreign equivalent required, in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
Must have a strong background in immunology research, with skills in multicolor flow cytometry and cellular assays with human peripheral blood, including skills in molecular and cellular biology. Expertise in regulatory T cells, bioinformatics analysis, experience with RNA sequencing, experience collecting and using human cells and tissues, writing manuscripts and grant or fellowship applications, and interest in reproductive biology and women's health.
