| Effective immediately the position of Safety and Training Instructor is open for placement. SUMMARY: Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC), is seeking a candidate for the position of Safety and Training Instructor. The successful candidate will conduct safety training for the New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives (NMREC) and will report to the Safety Loss Control Director for NMREC. The candidate’s residence is preferred to be in the centralized NM area. The position will require 50% travel, depending on location. Send resume and references by April 23, 2021 to: OAEC, Attention: Cade Standifer, 1832 South Roosevelt Rd 10, Portales, NM 88130 or email to cstandifer@oaec.coop ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Conduct safety and technical skills training sessions for all employee positions at member system facilities and other locations.
- Develop training programs and related written materials by researching topics, analyzing, organizing and summarizing data, and preparing presentation materials and handouts.
- Serve as a technical resource for member cooperatives in areas of electrical operations safety related work practices and employee health and safety related regulatory compliance.
- For assigned member cooperatives maintain records and documentation including training materials, outlines, presentations, attendance records, and observation forms.
- Assist in the development, planning, coordination, and presentation of association sponsored training events including workshops, training schools, and meetings.
- Assist in accident investigations as requested by member systems. Develop, recommend, and implement remedies and preventative measures as appropriate.
- Support NRECA Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) by conducting preliminary observations and application assistance to assigned member cooperatives, and by serving on observation teams for cooperatives participating in the program.
- Assist in providing OAEC Loss Control Services to the members of the New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives Self Insurers’. Develop and maintain positive professional relations with member systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: - Associate Degree in Applied Science preferred
- CLCP/CUSP certification preferred
Experience: - Completion of an approved line workers apprenticeship program
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as Journeyman Lineman
- Must be familiar with and the use of electrical linework tools and equipment.
COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: - General knowledge of federal and state regulatory agencies such as the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), OSHA, DOT, EPA & APPA Safety Manual
- Knowledge of electric power transmission and distribution systems and their operating principles and practices
- Knowledge of electrical theory
- Knowledge about the operations of utility vehicles
- General knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures, practices, work methods and reporting requirements that applies to safety and loss control
- Must have the ability to use office equipment and computers, including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs and virtual video conferencing
- Must have good communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be comfortable with delivery of hands-on and oral presentations

- Ability to operate a vehicle to travel to service sites as part of normal duties in order to conduct training sessions, assess equipment safety and investigate accident sites. The employee must understand the need and be available for in-state and occasional out-of-state travel by automobile.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most of the normal duties will be performed inside, which will involve almost constant interaction with other employees, but a small amount of work is required outside. |
