Clinical Research Coordinator

Position Summary

The Pediatric Heart Center is looking for a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) passionate about making the health system work more efficiently and effectively for children and in growing as a member of our team The CRC will have strong organizational, multi-tasking, time management, communication, and team skills to join our team in the assessment of outcomes, value of care, and health inequities for children for congenital heart disease.

The position is responsible for collaborating with Principal Investigator (PI) and her team as well as working independently to coordinate clinical research studies and trails.  The research team is highly synergistic and works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to advance knowledge in pediatric heart disease. This role is well-suited for an energetic self-starter who enjoys learning and the challenge of solving problems that improve people's lives.  The candidate would report to the PI and the Director of Research for the Clinical Research Core in the Department of Surgery.

Recent projects include assessing the effects of socioeconomic disparities on outcomes and resource utilization for children undergoing congenital heart surgery, examining the effects of surgeon age/experience on patient outcomes, and a series of investigations on the effects of COVID-19 on patient outcomes. Responsibilities

1. Working directly with the PI and other team members to prioritize day-to-day study operations and direct investigations.
2. Identifying potential study participants
3. Screening potential participants to determine eligibility
4. Randomizing participants
5. Completing case report forms
6. Assisting with scheduling of tests and appointments
7. Managing data collection and submission and maintaining relevant databases; consulting medical records as necessary to obtain pertinent data
8. Collecting, processing, and shipping protocol specimens
9. Preparing/monitoring study budgets and regulatory documents for IRB submissions, data use agreements, and contracting
10. Directing communications with patients and collaborators
11. Assisting with grant and manuscript writing

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of related experience

• Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required
• Familiarity with reviewing electronic medical records
• Familiarity with Redcap and other data management sources

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and want to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with statistical analysis programs (ie. SAS, SPSS, STATA) is preferred.

• Three to five years of related, paid experience as a research assistant, project manager, research coordinator, research administrator, or similar job preferred.

• Previous or active CCRC/CCRP certification is preferred.

Other Requirements

• Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word and Excel is required.
• Experience with statistical analysis programs (ie. SAS, SPSS, STATA) .
• Intermediate MS Office skills.
• Must be able to successfully complete systems training requirements.
