Oversees all aspects of the scientific and intellectual development, management, training, and operations for the Proteomics and Metabolomics Platform, in collaboration with the Faculty Director and Associate Dean for Research Resources.Â
Provide scientific expertise and leadership in performing and delivering LC-MS/MS and other mass spectrometry analyses to generate quantitative global and targeted metabolomics data for a variety of research projects in collaboration with investigators.
Participates in scientific discussions and brainstorming regarding experimental design, and new technological development and innovation around various research themes requiring metabolomics and proteomics, thereby ensuring the Proteomics and Metabolomics Platform remains at the leading edge to support scientific discovery.
Interact and collaborate with other Platform Directors, OSRF Director and OSRF core Directors, Polsky Center Staff, Faculty and trainees.Â
Remains an active member of the scientific community by writing scientific articles, manuscripts, and reports for the research platform, as well as presenting research findings at scientific meetings and/or conferences.
Provides expertise to researchers on compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.
Provides expertise to researchers and research support staff. Oversees activities related to data collection and analysis.
Leads the establishment of new laboratories and provides assistance with purchasing new laboratory equipment; ensuring efficient operation of laboratory, including overseeing maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment.
Improves financial, personnel, planning, compliance and other administrative aspects of research project. Collaborates with other researchers on long-range plans for research projects. Leads, investigates, modifies and applies new procedures, techniques
Performs other related work as needed.
PhD or equivalent.
Experience in mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry.
Experience in proteomics and metabolomics research.
Ability to analyze and understand complex issues.
Commitment to providing a high level of service and working in a team environment.
High degree of professionalism.
Strong competency in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, quantitative data analysis and data presentation (both oral and written).
Ability to win the trust and confidence of faculty and administrators.
