Staff Scientist/Facility Head, Neuroimaging Core, NIDA
National Institutes of Health
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a Staff Scientist/Facility Head to help create and directly manage a shared Neuroimaging Core within its Intramural Research Program (IRP). Research performed in this core will focus on fundamental brain mechanisms of drug addiction using functional and structural imaging, behavioral and computational methods and other innovative human research techniques. The successful candidate must be committed to scientific excellence and highly collaborative research and will foster this throughout the development of this translational research facility. To be considered for this position, applicants must hold an MD or PhD or equivalent degree(s). Criteria for selection include experience in conducting human subjects-based neuroimaging research relevant to drug addiction or other psychiatric disorders. Experience in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including image acquisition and image analysis of structural and functional MRI, is essential. Experience with the regulatory aspects of clinical research and human subject protection is preferred, as is experience in managing a neuroimaging facility. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other research groups within the NIDA-IRP and to provide state- of-the-art neuroimaging support for studies aimed at understanding mechanisms of drug addiction. Thus, a proven ability to establish and sustain collaborative work is highly desirable. The selected candidate will receive resources from NIDA for funding start-up costs and on-going program operations, and will be responsible for managing budget, personnel, and space within the Core. NIDA will provide adequate laboratory and office space for advancement of the Core. This facility is intended to support neuroimaging research within the NIDA IRP, located within the Biomedical Research Center on the campus of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. The broader NIH campus and the NIDA IRP in Baltimore provide a rich and highly interactive translational neuroscience environment. Full federal benefits are included. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
