JOB OVERVIEW The Accreditation Manager works directly with the Director of Education and Instructional Strategies, Department Chair, program directors, and program administrators on all aspects of accreditation. The individual is responsible for facilitating an effective relationship between our program accreditor, the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and the UCSF / San Francisco State University (SFSU) Graduate Program in Physical Therapy.
The Accreditation Manager will play a predominant role in collecting, organizing, and managing the required documentation necessary for the reaccreditation of a three-year Doctorate in Physical Therapy program. It involves meeting the standards set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy and Education (CAPTE) in preparation for re-accreditation in 2021. The individual will compile information necessary to show that each of the standards have been met. They will complete the Self Study Report (SSR) and ensure it meets compliance. The individual serves as a shared resource for the Chairs, staff and faculty of the joint DPT program and provide support for the online learning environments, evaluations and surveys, and educationnal data management. The individual will report to the Director of Education and Instructional Strategies and will assume the responsibility for a wide array of re-accreditatoin projects.The individual will utilize their analytical skills, design and ensure all core curriculum and program evaluation reports are collected and organized for CAPTE.
The Accreditation Manager will play a predominant role in organizing the effort towards accreditation, centralizing and compiling the information for the CAPTE Accreditation Site visit scheduled to occur in 2021. They will ensure compliance with accreditation and university regulations; they will ensure timely assessments of curriculum and teaching evaluations and will complete the annual curriculum evaluation and clinical education evaluation processes. The Manager works directly with the education director and UCSF-SFSU Core Faculty and all faculty committees in overseeing the development and implementation of all new and existing policies and processes related to accreditation.
The Accreditation Manager will possess a high degree of analytical and data mapping skills, being responsible for the curriculum evaluation, assessment, and improvements to policies and procedures to improve efficiency and adhere to accreditation guidelines. These responsibilities require understanding of a variety of variables and the expectation is that this position supports all aspects of the accreditation process.

PHYSICAL THERAPY UCSF has been offering a program in physical therapy since 1942, beginning with a Certificate in Physical Therapy. In 1989, UCSF joined with SFSU to develop a Master’s degree program and subsequently transitioned to the current entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in 2011. The entry-level DPT degree is a three-year accredited joint program between UCSF and San Francisco State University (SFSU). The UCSF / SFSU Graduate Program in Physical Therapy is unique in that it is a joint program between UCSF and SFSU and this partnership benefits students in many ways.
Specifically, the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), highlighted this beneficial partnership in the accreditation report saying "the program is unique in that students are provided educational opportunities at two distinctly different but related universities, providing them with a strong theoretical foundation in the sciences and research while simultaneously helping them translate that knowledge into clinical practice, a commitment to the community, and social justice.
The Department also offers a PhD in Rehabilitation Science program and Residency Programs. The Department operates three Outpatient Clinical Faculty Practice’s and a Health and Wellness Center at Mission Bay. The Department also operates several research laboratories.

Maintains a broad range of expertise in health professions education theory and industry best practices • Must demonstrate a high level of analytical knowledge and problem solving skills • Works under minimal supervision and collaborates with senior management to carry out high-level objectives. Able to make decisions where policy is not applicable and provide new direction where needed • Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
