The position: The Biostatistics and Epidemiology Division at RTI International is seeking candidates for a full-time Senior Biostatistician with a focus on substance use research.
Who we are: RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. The Biostatistics and Epidemiology Division serves as the data coordinating center for multicenter clinical studies, including several clinical trials and research networks, including in the areas of substance use and addiction. We are a collaborative, diverse group of researchers with backgrounds ranging from bioinformatics, data science, statistics, epidemiology, and clinical study and data management.
What you would do: In this position, you will provide senior leadership for statistical and scientific aspects of multicenter clinical studies (including randomized trials), such as study design, protocol development, study implementation, quality control, interim data monitoring, final data analysis and data sharing, and dissemination of study results. You will play an integral role on a cross-functional study team which supports multiple simultaneous studies, including leading and attending project meetings, attention to timelines, documentation of approach, and internal/external communications. You will serve as a liaison with collaborators from funding agencies such as NIH, universities, regulatory agencies such as the FDA, central laboratories, DSMB, clinical centers, other stakeholders as appropriate, and other specialized core facilities.
Who we are looking for: Candidates who apply should have the following credentials: • A doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years’ experience. • Experience managing or providing statistical leadership on a large, complex public health research project such as a coordinating center for multisite clinical trials. While a focus on substance use is desirable, it is not essential if an otherwise qualified candidate is willing to learn and work in this area. • A record of scientific productivity in peer-reviewed journals and other venues. • Proven record of productive communication, collaboration, and consensus building within and between internal and external groups such as research consortia. • Legally authorized to work in the United States with no requirement now, or in the future, for sponsorship for employment visa status.
