As part of a new research study initiative, the Department of Pathology & Cell Biology will serve as the Central Lab for Major Pathological Response (MPR) assessment of lung cancer. The department will receive slides from various locations for pathology assessment. Under the supervision of the Principle Investigator/CUMC Pathologist, the Research Coordinator will be mainly responsible for tracking the flow of materials (inbound from and outbound to local sire and at CUMC; receipt of materials and performing Quality Assurance for all the materials received.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will also be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Serve as a liaison between the various study sites and CUMC Pathology & Cell Biology, tracking shipment of materials to and from the local site.
Coordinating data management and confirming the data relating to materials are entered into data forms.
Coordinating slide scanning with Histology Service.
Documenting the integrity of slides and repair if necessary and possible.
Research coordination includes working with Principle Investigators ensuring that slides/materials are collated with the accompanying paperwork and are labeled correctly with CUMC case number assigned.
Working with translation services, if necessary.
Delivering scanned slides to the CUMC Pathologist for review.
Collecting all materials from the CUMC Pathologist once reviewed for shipment back to the local site.
Maintaining regulatory research records.
Working with various departments including outside hospitals.
Will take part in conference calls with the study site as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience.
Other Requirements
Extremely strong interpersonal and organizational skills required as well as the ability to exercise initiative and judgement.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; possess the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and the prioritize tasks while maintaining responsibility for timely execution.
Customer service, friendly and detailed oriented.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite, data entry, and Adobe.
Incumbent must be mobile and willing to transport slides and lift up to 10 pounds.
Available for out-of-town travel, if necessary.
