The salary is $21.00/hour with an average 40 hour work week. Vacation and sick leave are earned.

The Audiology Department of Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego, California offers a full range of evaluation and rehabilitative services for children and adults including highly successful Cochlear Implant, Hearing Aid, Implantable Technology and Assistive Listening Device Programs. We offer sedated and non-sedated BER/ASSR experience and opened a balance clinic several years ago, offering Posturography, VEMP/VHIT, VNG and Rotary Chair assessment. We work collaboratively with a variety of specialty departments such as Otolaryngology, Genetics, Speech-Language-Pathology and Hematology/Oncology. Our mission is to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research, and advocacy. We offer a fourth year AuD Externship each year, beginning in May/June and ending May/June. Our setting is demanding and fast-paced with a staff of 20+ audiologists. We are looking for individuals who have pediatric experience and are motivated to further hone their pediatric skills. Externs are provided with supervision by experienced state-licensed pediatric audiologists with either ASHA CCC-A or ABA Board Certification in Audiology. Supervision from an audiologist with the ASHA CCC-A is available.
Externs are allowed to attend local workshops such as CI programming workshops manufacturer specific workshop such as hearing aid CEU training.

In addition to experience working with pediatric patients, applicants must meet the following requirements: Completion of Bachelors Degree; Completion of 3 years of a residential doctoral program in Audiology; ASHA certification eligible; Hearing Aid Dispensing trainee licensure from the State of California within 3 months of hire; License eligible: RPE, State of California; and Certification: CPR. Spanish speaking preferred by not required.
