As a Research Associate in the NIH-funded MIRACLE Center of Excellence and the Maternal Health Equity Lab in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University, you will be working directly with Dr. Meghea and the Lab’s team to address the large disparities in maternal and infant health morbidity and mortality. Our mission also includes training the next generation of researchers focused on this critical public health issue. MIRACLE is a part of the NIH Implementing a Maternal health and Pregnancy Outcomes Vision for Everyone (IMPROVE) initiative as one of ten NIH Maternal Health Research Centers of Excellence nationwide. Our Lab program of research is considered “engaged scholarship” and we use the tools of science to partner with communities, health systems, providers, health policymakers and, most importantly, underserved birthing persons to create new knowledge that drives innovation in “real world” settings to improve health and health care. Dr. Meghea leads both the Center and the Lab. The position is in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Michigan State University, the OBGYN department with the most NIH funding in the US.

The Center and related projects are implementing and evaluating multilevel, community-centered, interventions to reduce the large disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality. The Center’s projects include pragmatic trials, randomized trials, and implementation research.
You will work closely with senior, mid-career, and early career faculty, academic and non-academic staff, graduate, medical, and undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines, as well as with community and health partners. As such, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a world class team of academic, community, and clinical researchers.
