The Research Senior Technician will oversee and execute data collection for ongoing studies in the Saygin lab, oversee undergraduate research assistants, manage administrative study materials, and help analyze study data. Responsibilities include identifying eligible participants and families especially from diverse backgrounds by coordinating with collaborators at other sites and identifying other venues for recruitment and outreach; screening, enrolling, scheduling, study participants; heading outreach events and helping maintain relationships with our study communities. Running, and analyzing behavioral and brain-imaging experiments using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), diffusion weighted imaging (DWI), functional connectivity, and behavioral assessments; designing study paradigms; evaluating data quality; processing and analyzing data. Managing lab materials, including preparing and managing IRB protocols; developing and maintaining comprehensive study protocols, documentation, and training materials; designing recruitment and retention materials including letters, cards, videos; writing progress reports for study staff, collaborators, and study participants; conducting literature reviews; maintaining and supporting website and GitHub pages (including updating with datasets and analysis scripts/software). Working with lab members and collaborators to collect and analyze data; overseeing undergraduate research assistants; training new staff members on study protocols; organizing progress meetings; cultivating diverse, inclusive, and collaborative workplace. Attending and presenting at research conferences and co-authoring manuscripts.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelors degree in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or related field
Required Qualifications
2 years of relevant experience is required. The ideal candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal skills for interacting with infants, children, and parents; be able to travel for recruitment, meetings, and data collection; have strong organizational and time management skills, motivation to learn new skills, and determination to achieve study enrollment targets.
Desired Qualifications
Previous research experience (working with human subjects data; behavioral or neuroimaging) and/or coding experience (e.g., MATLAB, Python, shell scripting).
The pay range for this job profile is $17.10-$22.50. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
