The Executive Fellowship is a paid 12-month program housed at the ASHP Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, that provides fellow(s) with hands-on training in all facets of not-for-profit association leadership and management. Fellows will be responsible for supporting, coordinating, and implementing projects and strategic initiatives that impact the association and the profession of pharmacy. Example projects may include supporting ASHP’s Strategic Planning Retreat, Commission on Goals, and ASHP’s National Meetings, contributing to ASHP’s policy development process, and coordinating activities with key stakeholders. This is a terrific, immersive experience for individuals to gain and hone their skills in a wide range of areas listed below. Through this fellowship, you will be working closely with and receiving direct mentorship from the organization’s executive leadership. The program is designed to create change agents that positively impact healthcare through practice, governance, and administrative leadership, skills applicable to a wide range of career opportunities. This position is based onsite in our Bethesda, MD office and successful candidates will be required to relocate to the Bethesda, MD area (DC/MD/VA). Relocation assistance is available for this position. Candidates must be able to work onsite in our Bethesda, MD office. It is anticipated that candidates will work onsite an average of 1 day per week, but additional onsite days may be required based on ASHP events, meetings and business needs.

This 14-month immersive program features unique health-policy learning experiences in Congress and the government affairs offices of ACCP and ASHP. During the program, fellows contribute to the effective use of scientific, therapeutic and pharmaceutical knowledge in professional organization and government policy decision-making. The fellow is actively mentored while gaining experience in issue prioritization, policy analysis, legislative evaluation and policy development, current affairs research, effective writing, and advocacy program development and implementation skills. The integration of these skills becomes the foundation for a future focused on practical policy development and evaluation. To be considered for this position, you must complete and submit the following by January 31, 2026:
Eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in a U.S. state or territory
Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency preferred
Strong involvement as a volunteer leader.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
High level of motivation, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
Self-starter with a desire to learn.
Ability to effectively work on cross functional teams.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Strong foundational understanding of pharmacy practice issues.
Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications and function specific applications, along with familiarity with accessing resources on the web and conducting literature search.
