Description of Work:
The Temporary Campus-Wide HR Specialist is part of an interdisciplinary human resources team dedicated to serving and supporting the faculty and staff of UNL. This position's primary focus will be in the area of staff classification and compensation but will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects across the HR spectrum. This temporary position is eligible for benefits, as defined below.
As a Campus-Wide HR Specialist, you will:
Engage in conversations with hiring managers and build strong working relationships.
Evaluate pay increase and retention requests to ensure salaries are fair, equitable, and appropriate.
Monitor and track incoming requests, organize and maintain data, and proactively follow up on outstanding requests.
Collaborate on projects related to staff classification and compensation.
Ensure UNL's full compliance with all employment-related regulatory requirements.
Temporary employees may be appointed for a period of up to two years. Those appointed for more than six months are eligible for benefits from the beginning of the appointment, provided the position is half-time (.50FTE) or greater. Benefits for eligible temporary employees include the following: health, dental, vision and life insurance. Within the UNL System, this position is categorized as a Managerial/Professional Temporary-Salaried staff member.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus two years of related human resources work experience. Additional relevant education or experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of labor laws, principles of employment and human resources practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with hiring managers and other stakeholders.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams (or similar programs).
