The University of Minnesotaâ™s (UMN) Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Quality Improvement Coordinator to initiate and facilitate quality improvement projects, processes, and metrics. The ideal candidate will be skilled in project management and quality improvement methodologies (lean, Six Sigma, A3, etc) and will be expected to provide QI training/support to residents and faculty, and lead quality project initiatives and compliance within the department. This position will be required onsite 100% and work will be based on the Twin Cities campus.
Responsibilities:
25% Partner with the Chair of Quality Education: o Consult in development and implementation of a Quality Education program for residents and incoming faculty o Lead residents with their quality improvement projects (A3 design, set metrics, collect data, analyze, guide PDSA cycles)
20% Partner with the chair of Quality Data o Manage biweekly report process for the department on quality metrics; continually update and enhance metrics used o Prepare and submit quality reports to regulatory agencies as appropriate o Lead and manage Epic Improvement subgroup
20% Partner with the Chair of Clinical Quality o Manage day to day clinical incident reporting database o Partner with faculty to assign incidents, track completion, close review process o Manage the scheduling of M&M presentations, file PP with appropriate incidents in the data base o Cross check iCare (RL Solutions) reports with database events and update as needed o Complete iCare/RLS reports form database incidents as appropriate
20% Quality Improvement activities o Work with faculty to set quality goals annually, report quarterly on progress to those goals; prepare final report annually for the Chair (Wall) and Vice Chair (Wahr), and direct activities for quality improvement. o Coordinate faculty projects for the Quality Consortium, lead contact for quality support administrative functions. o Anticipate and identify barriers to change and develop plans to overcome the barriers.
10% Partner with the Vice Chair for Quality and Safety o Mange the scheduling for all quality and steering committee meetings; set agenda, record minutes o Prepare annual report to the Lead Quality Committee on departmental quality efforts to establish protocols and procedures. o Lead monthly meetings to review prior months iCare/RLS incident reports that involve anesthesia, assist with development of remedial actions via root cause analysis. o Attend RCA and ACA meetings that involve anesthesia, ensure faculty representation
5% Partner with the Chair of each Quality Committee to schedule quarterly meetings, set agendas, provide minutes

Required Qualifications: ⢠Bachelorâ™s degree required and at least 4 years of experience in quality improvement or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience to equal eight years that provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility. ⢠Excellent administrative and organizational skills ⢠Excellent verbal and written communication skill ⢠Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools ⢠Experience partnering with leaders on improvement work in a healthcare setting ⢠Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications: ⢠Master's degree in a related field ⢠Lean/Six Sigma certification or other process improvement training ⢠Skilled in project management ⢠REDcap ⢠Smartsheet
