Supervises staff responsible for working with departments, staff, patients and families in using clinical research techniques. May assume full responsibility for the research in delegated studies. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the processes by which to attain them. Supervises daily operations, and performance requirements. Has full oversight for staffing, performance management, and programmatic workflow of project.

The Clinical Research Manager reports to the Medical Director of the Clinical Research Infrastructure and the Division Manager, and is directly responsible for the management of the approximately 18 personnel comprising the clinical research infrastructure operations unit: 16 Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs); 4 Senior CRCs; and a Regulatory Affairs Specialist. This role partners closely with the Medical Director of the Clinical Research Infrastructure, the Faculty Oversight Committee on Research, the Associate Chief for Research, and individual investigators to achieve objectives. The incumbent proposes solutions to difficulties arising from multidisciplinary research,and develops and implements structural changes to maximize time efficiency within the constraints of limited resources. Required is a demonstrated ability to translate clinical research philosophy into business best practices in a trial setting. The incumbent participates in strategizing, planning, and implementation of substantial program improvements of large scope and high degrees of complexity. Working with a high degree of independence and superior communication, leadership, and project management skills, the Clinical Research Manager's achievement of unit objectives is critical to the success of the Division's clinical research mission.
