Fairfax Water is seeking a Chief of Employee Experience who is a transformational leader who brings best practices and will partner with leadership, departments, and HR staff to address the changing needs of their workforce. This pivotal position reports directly to the Director of Administration and collaborates closely with the General Manager and senior leadership to meet the organization’s human resource needs from a strategic long-term view and the important day-to-day needs of supervisors and staff. The Chief of Employee Experience will oversee essential areas of recruitment and selection, compliance with regulations, employee development and training, benefits and wellness programs, and policy development.
In this role, the Chief of Employee Experience will collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategies and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legislative requirements. Responsibilities include overseeing training and organizational development programs, recommending policy improvements, and working closely with departments to address their needs and provide guidance on workforce issues. The Chief of Employee Experience will also lead efforts to attract, retain, recognize, and reward employees, foster a diverse and high-performing work environment, and manage complex employee relations issues.
Additionally, the Chief of Employee Experience will oversee the administration of employee benefits, job classification, and pay plans while also coordinating employee training activities and workforce planning initiatives. This role requires a thorough knowledge of relevant laws and regulations and involves preparing materials for Human Resources Committee meetings, presenting findings, and ensuring compliance with internal grievance procedures. The Chief will supervise a team, providing guidance and support to meet both operational needs and employee expectations.
This position requires a skilled human resource professional who manages day-to-day operational improvements and focuses on achieving the organization's long-term strategic goals.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected hiring range is $141,000-$227,000, depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements include graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in human resources management, industrial or organizational psychology, business, public administration, organizational development, or a closely related field, and 10 years of progressively responsible HR experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and knowledge. A minimum of five years of leadership and management is also required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop and foster effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, SHRM, or PHRSA certification. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing training and organizational development programs, improving processes through technology and workflow, building trust and effective employee engagement, and transforming a department to improve organizational culture and performance.
