Responsibilities The Licensed Clinical Social Worker role is a hybrid position that will provide support to ambulatory specialty clinics including but not limited to: PM&R, Orthopedics, and Spine Clinic. The primary role of the LCSW is to assist patients and families/caregivers in coping with the social/emotional issues and practical arrangements related to the patient's illness, as well as promoting the delivery of effective, cost-efficient, quality patient care. The LCSW delivers age-appropriate social work care to patients and their caregivers in accordance with agency policy and procedure and state and federal regulations. The LCSW serves as an integral member of the healthcare team providing assessments, coordination, treatment planning, information and referral to community resources and other social work services to meet the complex needs of patients and families in the hospital and clinic settings.
The LCSW shall adhere to and promote the ethics and values of the social work profession, using the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide to ethical decision making. The LCSW will advocate for the patient's right to self-determination, confidentiality, access to supportive services and resources, and appropriate inclusion in decision making that affects their health and well-being. The LCSW will be an active participant and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team by recognizing and offering services that address the biopsychosocial needs of the patient. The LCSW demonstrates the ability to fulfill these responsibilities through clinical assessment, accurate and sound judgement, and maintaining professional communication.
The LCSW position requires a high level of clinical judgement, problem-solving skills, creativity, organizational and priority setting abilities, with excellent communication skills. The LCSW may be asked to participate in special projects and collect data to improve the quality of services delivered to our patients. The LCSW must be flexible as changes in technology, healthcare coverage, regulatory requirements, and our patient population may mandate changes to workflow, work standards, and work practices on an as needed basis.
Required Qualifications

California Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW)
Master's degree from accredited School of Social Work
Skills, knowledge, and ability performing psychosocial assessments on pediatric/adult/geriatric populations
Knowledge of suicidal behavior, ability to assess lethality, and the ability to develop appropriate treatment plan
Knowledge and understanding of individual/child/family development, human behavior and communication, the influence of culture and values in social work practice, case management, and the relationship between social work practice and medicine
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make independent judgments, and have decisions be reviewed if they represent significant departure from departmental goals
Ability to organize a variety of concurrent activities, set realistic goals/objectives, plan ahead, meet deadlines without compromising quality
Knowledge of community resources
Knowledge of chronic and acute disease and how it influences individual and family functioning
Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity to, dealings with cultural and socioeconomic diversity
Basic understanding of computer and EMR functionality
Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, etc.
Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy
Preferred Qualifications
Behavioral Health experience
Evidence-based therapies experience
Must have valid driver's license and use personal vehicle in work related activities

Occasional overtime and/or flexible hours may be necessary as determined by the Department
