We are proud to announce a full-time 4th year externship position split between the Centre for Advanced Hearing and Balance Testing and Munk Hearing Centre!
The Centre for Advanced Hearing and Balance Testing at Toronto General Hospital is among the largest and most diverse out-patient audiology and specialty vestibular units in North America. We work closely with a multidisciplinary team ensuring that each test within our evidence-based test battery probes a unique area of the vestibular system, and provide essential information about vestibular function. Based on the clinical skills of our team, as well as the breadth of tests that we offer, our testing Centre is unique within Canada. We regularly complete vestibular assessments for the pediatric and adult population, as well as for patients who have sustained head injuries.
Munk Hearing Centre is a hearing aid clinic within Toronto General Hospital and has a second location in Uptown Toronto. Munk Hearing Centre works closely with The Centre for Advanced Hearing and Balance Testing and the Department of Otolaryngologists to address the hearing healthcare needs of even the most medically complex patients. We specialize in surgical patients, single-sided deafness and custom plugs and are a preferred dealer for In-Ear Monitors.
By the end of a clinical rotation at our Centres, our externs have mastered adult and pediatric vestibular testing (including videonystagmography, vestibular evoke myogenic potentials, video head impulse tests, electrocochleography, auditory brain stem response tests and cortical tests) as well as hearing aid selections, fittings and troubleshooting.
Hearing aid manufacturer meetings, journal club, neurotology rounds, otolaryngology grand rounds, cerumen management training, etc as well as opportunities to go to all audiology conferences throughout the year.
