The Neurosurgery Department is seeking a Research Assistant who will coordinate and implement research activities of the lab. Under the supervision of faculty investigators, Alban Latremoliere & Chloe Alexandre.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Data Analysis/Data Management
Conduct data analysis of mouse sleep-wake behaviors.
Maintain HIPAA-compliant participant database.
Maintain data archives.
Assist in experimental design and implementation.
General Lab Administration
Participate with PI on design and implementation of standard operating procedures.
Attend and take notes at lab meetings.
Supervise undergraduate research assistants.
Liaise between administrative office as necessary.
Order supplies and maintain equipment as necessary; review invoices and statements and shipments for correctness.
Work with Research Participants
Aid in recruitment efforts and consenting of research participants.
Aid in scheduling research participants.
Assist with conducting phone and in-person screenings.
Coordinate participant visits, collect data, maintain records and regulatory documentation.
Participate with PI on grant applications, non-competing renewals, and progress reports.
Collaborate with administrative staff regarding grant submissions, as necessary.
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
