JOB SUMMARY: The responsibility of the Print Estimator is to develop cost estimates on routine and complex jobs as required by sales/customer request and to assist Sales/Operations Management in the custom manufacturing of our clients print work. Consults with customers on print jobs and specifications, and works with Prepress and Print Production to plan project workflow and identify efficiencies. Responsibilities include estimate labor and material costs of printing and binding books, pamphlets, periodicals, and other printed matter, based on specifications outlined on sales order, or submitted by prospective customer. Examine specifications, sketches, and sample layouts, and calculate unit and production costs, using labor and material pricing schedules, and considering factors such as size and number of sheets or pages, paper stock requirements, and binding operations. Prepare final cost estimate for production of project. The ideal candidate must have excellent mathematical skills, an analytical mindset, be thorough and capable of managing relationships with key persons. Estimating data will help inform and guide business decisions that will enhance departmental growth and financial stability.
