The Keck Medical Centre of USC and Keck School of Medicine seek an experienced Senior Director of Health & Research Informatics to oversee, direct, and coordinate university-wide informatics projects in support of health and clinical research informatics initiatives.Â Under the direction of the Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) and in collaboration with the hospital and medical group business intelligence leadership groups, incumbent will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of central enterprise data warehouses to support the combined missions of safe and high-quality patient care, translational research, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.Â The position reports directly to the Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) and is responsible for planning and directing program staff (i.e., assigns projects/tasks to their team according to skills and expertise), budget administration, space allocation and design, equipment, workflow, and operational philosophy.Â The Senior Director will oversee program operations including developing and implementing process, architecture, data and cloud technologies, and standards.
The Senior Director will also supervise the capabilities within research informatics and clinical trials.Â In the domain of regulatory compliance and quality reporting, the incumbent will oversee the integration of IRB and regulatory systems for data access and analytics.Â The Senior Director will also oversee the integration of clinical research informatics with the health system in the domains of research data warehousing, clinical trials management system, biorepository, precision medicine, and patient-generated health data (PGHD).Â As the integration of data across applications is vital for the effective management of the health system, the Senior Director will also oversee the integration/interface teams of the enterprise.Â The incumbent will also: balance the alignment of strategic objectives with managing daily activities; serve as a senior advisor to and act on behalf of the CRIO to assure and provide critical, high-level support to optimize the CRIOâs time; and conduct and participate in long- and short-range planning for the program.
Successful candidates are highly skilled organization leaders with executive research management experience, strategic long-range thinkers with excellent execution skills and exceptional interpersonal communication skills (influencers/motivators) and have worked successfully with stakeholders and thought leaders.Â Candidates must be independent, organize, efficient, and able to delegate effectively and manage by example.
Minimum Education:â¢Bachelorâs degree in computer science, healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. Masterâs in same preferred.Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢10+ years working in a healthcare setting, preferably academic healthcare settingâ¢Experience with managing merged clinical and financial data preferredâ¢5+ years of management and direct staff supervision requiredâ¢Proficient in project/program management software systems and financial management systemsâ¢Long-range organizational strategic thinking and planningâ¢Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) and superior presentation skillsâ¢Ability to oversee multiple portfolios of research projects, meeting deadlines and budget requirementsâ¢Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and execute on a strategic vision with measurable outcomes to document successâ¢Proactive and customer-orientedRequired License/Certification:â¢LA City Fire and Safety Certification. If no certification upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
