The Health Technician (Audiology) position is located at the Kerrville VA Medical Center in Kerrville, Texas within the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service (ASPS). Duties may include but are not limited to: -Receives patients from the Audiology staff and independently completes the assessment of patients needing earmold impressions or hearing aid/assistive device repairs. -Makes impression of the ear canal for earmolds or custom in-the-ear hearing aids including the newest and most difficult deep canal and surgically-altered mastoid bowl impressions. -Cleans outer portion of external auditory canal of debris and hair when making an impression. -Receives and screens calls from veterans. -Makes minor hearing aid shell and internal/external component repairs. -Checks incoming new hearing aids for accuracy of the manufacture's design of the custom order. -Monitors the Audiology Staff's inventory and supply orders for accuracy and timeliness. -Updates patient demographic information, registering assistive listening devices and hearing aids and maintaining clinic stock and re-ordering patient hearing aid batteries. -Cleans ear canal of imparted cerumen for patients scheduled for the Audiology Clinic prior to testing or prior to taking an earmold impression. -Provides counseling and education training on cerumen management to patients. -Assists in orientation and training of new staff. -Management of infection control, patient safety, and clinical supplies for the audiology clinic.
