The UNC Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a Laboratory Research Manager to join the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. This position will work on a number of bench-science research projects. The successful applicant will report to the Division Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, whose research will be directed by this Laboratory Research Manager. The Research Lab Manager oversees the entire laboratory setting to promote smooth operation, regulatory compliance and interaction with other laboratories. In addition, they will be expected to perform in vitro and in vivo experiments and standard molecular biology techniques including the handling of human and mouse biopsy resections. They will conduct cell and tissue culture, use light and fluorescent microscopy as well as other instruments, process primary tissues for cell isolation, run PCR, western blot analysis, assist in mouse experiments, necropsy and immunostaining techniques. Finally, the Research Laboratory Manager will perform, oversee and coordinate research projects.
Education and Experience:
Analytical and problem solving research skills. Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and for technical publications. Ability to prioritize tasks in a diverse environment.
