The CSP/USP Pharmacy Program Manager functions under the general supervision of the Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor and is responsible for complete oversight of CSP and USP compliance standards in Pharmacy Service at the Jesse Brown VA (JBVA) and associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Major Duties: Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of CSP and USP standards, and other applicable laws, to ensure compliance with external (T JC, FDA, OIG, DEA, NIOSH, etc.) and internal (VHA, VACO, VISN) regulatory requirements for JBVA pharmacies and CBOCs. Ensures competency of personnel (all pharmacists, technicians, trainees, and other supportive personnel involved in sterile and non-sterile compounding and/or hazardous drug management) and environmental control of the storage and compounding areas. Work in collaboration with the IV Room Pharmacy Manager on various projects and tasks designed to maintain the day-to-day operations of the sterile, non-sterile, and hazardous compounding areas of the Pharmacy Service. Knowledge of contemporary drug distribution systems including outpatient prescription processing, chemotherapy prescription processing, unit dose, and IV admixture. They must have a working knowledge of VistA, VistA Chemotherapy Manager (VCM), CPRS, PICIS, Simplifi 797, Pinnacle TPN Compounder, Pyxis, ATP2 Reakcaging Machine, ScriptPro, and any software used in the operation of automation systems employed by the Pharmacy service. Understand the rationale for risk-prevention policies, risk to healthcare personnel and patients, risk of non-compliance that may compromise safety, and the responsibility to report potentially hazardous situations to the management team.
