Overview:
This position will be one of two leading the development of the UMN/M Health Fairview Primary Care Practice-based Research Network (PBRN). The PBRN’s core objectives are to (1) create a network of primary care clinics across the state promoting and conducting research that matters in daily practice and that is community-informed and (2) provide an interface for implementation scientists and experts to support key projects and evaluations, including rapid response trials and recruitment into primary care studies. This is a collaboration between the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the new Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS).
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and leadership to develop and facilitate research projects within the M Health Fairview Primary Care service line through work in a variety of roles. Over time, this position may extend PBRN capabilities to sites in other health systems including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The employee in this position will employ a self-starting work ethic to build awareness of learning health system philosophies, establish a collaborative research network, coordinate and implement research protocols, facilitate research studies, provide writing and editing support , and manage other assigned projects that support the research mission of the Practice-based Research Network and CLHSS. The position requires research knowledge as well as flexibility and ability to work on diverse projects, including research studies, practice-based research projects, and process improvement studies. Local travel will be required to support multiple clinic locations within the M Health Fairview system.
Job duties/responsibilities:
Practice-based Research Network Coordination (50%):
- Work with providers and other clinical staff to support research and scholarly activities at M Health Fairview primary care clinics.
- Organize and manage research study protocols, procedures, and workflow.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings across the primary care clinics within M Health Fairview.
- Attend regular meetings to understand and anticipate research support needs.
- Connect clinician researchers to Departments and System resources and content experts.
- Organize and participate in “Research Percolator Meetings” to generate research ideas and troubleshoot active projects.
- Review and manage proposals and recruitment requests submitted via CLHSS (RapidEval CFP or other) or via DFMCH Research Services Portal (working closely with Clinic Research Leads).
- Manage project milestones and timelines including other assigned projects that support the research mission of the Departments. Regularly meet with leadership and study teams to discuss and communicate progress.
- Assist with dissemination of results, including research manuscripts, posters, presentations, abstracts, website content, and user guides.
Facilitation of research and practice enhancements (50%):
- Ensure protocols are followed , document study activities appropriately, and resolve issues that arise during day-to-day implementation of studies.
- Lead and guide faculty with study start-up activities (including preparation of IRB materials and data collection instruments).
- Recruit, screen, consent, and enroll subjects.
- Collect data, such as qualitative data via interviews and quantitative study data.
- Assist with design of REDCap databases and surveys.
- Provide training on protocols, monitor and analyze progress, and provide direction and recommendations to other team members to meet project goals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines and manage regulatory documents.

Estimated Salary:
$55,000.00 - $63,000.00 annually, depending on qualifications.

Required:
- BA/BS with at least 4 years of research experience or an advanced degree plus 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and with changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, set and maintain deadlines and prioritize assignments.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working/carrying out research in a clinical setting.
Preferred:
- Masters in Science or Public Health related field.
- Experience with participant recruitment and retention in a clinical setting.
