The Health Care Agency is the largest department in the County of Ventura and employs approximately with about 3,000 people; 1,100 of those in direct patient-care positions. The Health Care Agency is a comprehensive healthcare system that encompasses the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC), Santa Paula Hospital, 24 primary care clinics, 11 specialty care clinics, the Public Health Department, and the Behavioral Health Department. VCMC is also home to the top-rated (by Doximity and U.S. News & World Report) Family Medicine Residency Program in the United States and achieved an “All Cases” meritorious award for surgical care. It is also a West County Level II Trauma Center.
The Director of Quality and Performance Improvement will help define, implement, and integrate quality, safety, service, as well as efficiency strategies that affect the organizations operations and strategic direction. The Director --in collaboration with a group of multidisciplinary stakeholders-- will coordinate, implement, and manage the Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospitals Performance Improvement Plan which focuses on the identification of opportunities for improved patient care, incorporating evidence-based practices which improve patient outcomes.
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in business or a clinical-related field and a minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a hospital senior management role with at least two (2) years related to managing an acute care organization's Quality Improvement Program.
· Experience developing and implementing clinical, service and operation process improvement initiatives, both small and large scale.
· Current knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements for acute care (e.g. state, federal, local regulations, The Joint Commission (TJC), etc.).
· Knowledge and experience in specific performance improvement/CQI methodologies (such as Lean Six Sigma).
· Certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is preferred at time of hire but may be substituted for 5 years of management experience focused on quality management. CPHQ is required within two (2) years of employment.
