The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is accepting applications for the Senior Adviser International Student and Scholar Services position within the Office of International Education (OIE).
This position is a permanent, full-time benefits-eligible position intended for an individual with advanced knowledge of F and J visa regulations and model advising practices. The Senior Adviser will join a diverse and talented team of dedicated ISSS professionals and will be afforded the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule accommodating remote and in-office work.
OIE’s International Student and Scholar Services serves as the primary resource for non-immigrant students and scholars at Georgia Institute of Technology offering resources and support to aid in international student and scholar success. The OIE ISSS team actively engages in a culture of care in advising practice and in team relationships. Senior Adviser will provide the following support to the ISSS team:
Training for new and continuing DSOs and AROs on F and J visa types, GT policies, and institutional processes
Advising support for escalated cases involving complex, time-sensitive matters
Development and review of standard operating procedures and training materials for office procedures and stakeholder engagement
Lead adviser and coordinator bi-weekly gatherings to discuss model practice recommendations
Serve as a member of the ISSS leadership team in overseeing critical projects to advance the priorities and goals of the office
Development of communication templates and presentations for stakeholder engagement and outreach campaigns
Support Sunapsis e-form development and troubleshooting
Maintain an active caseload, advising hours, and email support
Desired Competencies and Experience:
Advanced F and J regulatory knowledge
Experience working with Sunapsis and BANNER softwares
Excellent communication skills and ample experience with designing and disseminating communications to stakeholders
Experience with designing and delivering training and orientations for professional staff
Project management experience and history of success with implementing new initiatives
Advanced knowledge of model practices with international student advising
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident. Must have three to four years of job related experience.
