Buckeye operates under a council?manager form of government. The seven?member City Council consists of six members elected by district to serve staggered four?year terms. The Mayor is elected at?large for a four?year term and serves as a voting member of council. All City elections are non?partisan. The City Council is responsible for passing ordinances, adopting the budget, appointing members of commissions, and hiring the City Manager. The City Manager carries out the policies and ordinances of the City Council, oversees the day?to?day operations of the City and appoints the various department directors.

The City Council is seeking candidates who are strong leaders and experienced in city management with a proven record of providing effective leadership in a complex organization.
A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred in public or business administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
Ten years of progressively responsible experience as a City Manager or an Assistant City Manager, including considerable experience at a senior level interacting with elected officials and other stakeholder groups.
Be innovative and creative, willing to look outside the traditional government structure to solve problems, as well the ability to move agendas forward in a multi-stakeholder environment.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and significant career success and have demonstrated experience in building and maintaining collaborative and effective relationships.
