The UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID) is a multi-departmental center within the School of Medicine which exists to conduct infectious disease related scientific, clinical, epidemiological, and behavioral research domestically and internationally, as well as provide technical assistance for the developing of HIV care and prevention programs.
Specifically, the Behavior and Technology Lab (BATLab) and the UNC/Emory Center for Innovative Technology (iTech) facilitate health behavior change through conducting technology-based research on all aspects of sexual health including factors that impact the acquisition, transmission, and treatment of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. The BATLab and iTech are part of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill School of Medicine and the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases.
This position will provide oversight on the organization, conduct, and evaluation of the portfolio of BATLab and iTech research protocols. The position will manage and supervise all activities necessary for protocol development and training. The range of responsibilities would include but are not limited to: project planning and administration, organizing and planning work operations, protocol and IRB development, database development and management, data/information collection and analysis, and manuscript and grant development. The position will serve as the research protocol liaison between the UNC research management team and external/site collaborators. The position will also supervise BATLab staff at the level of Research Assistant and Research/Protocol Specialist.
Education and Experience:
Interest in the development and evaluation of technology-based interventions (e.g. use of smartphones, social media, internet) to improve health and wellness is preferred.
