The Department of Neurosurgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California seeks a full-time Research Coordinator work on several research projects managed by the USC Neurorestoration Center. The Research Coordinator will manage research studies analyzing the use of neuromodulation in various neurological conditions. Studies will be conducted across multiple sites.
Strong communication skills, writing skills and attention to detail required. Ideally, the candidate will have background experience or knowledge in the field of neurosciences.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assists investigators or other staff with research studies in subject recruitment, data collection, scheduling of study-related activities and follow-up of enrolled subjects.
Will be trained to submit IRB study submissions and manage minimal risk studies. Will be responsible for maintaining regulatory requirements for all studies assigned to the RC.
Will be required to receive phlebotomy training.
Will be required to familiar with hospital policies.
Will be required to create records, spreadsheets, study logs for assigned studies and to assist other staff as needed.
Will assist staff with research activities such as administering research interventions. For this position the RC will be administering the following research based tasks: computer based tasks questionnaires, obtaining tissue samples, and collecting blood specimens
Other activities this RC will be responsible for include the following:
Assessing patients for study eligibility
Assist with research recruitment
Provide education to research participants
Coordinate study activities and assist research staff with scheduling as needed
Schedule research appointments
Communicates with study staff and colleagues
Is familiar with and complies with hospital regulations.
Coordinates obtaining, processing, and transporting research specimens
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 1 yearMinimum Field of Expertise: Administrative or research experience. Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Demonstrated effective communication and writing skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
