Reporting directly to the Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel the Associate General Counsel will provide legal advice and support to a wide range of academic and administrative departments across campus with a primary focus on transactional work, intellectual property and sponsored research, data privacy, and software and other technology contracts. This role must be able to contribute to the overall work product of a small legal team and requires the ability to work efficiently, independently, and proactively, as well as to organize and manage multiple projects and prioritize University needs in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include: â€¢Provides legal advice relating to the review, drafting and negotiating of complex contracts; â€¢Provides legal advice relating to the review and drafting of university policies and procedures; â€¢High level problem solving; â€¢Conducts legal research in the diverse areas of law faced by higher education institutions; â€¢Supports legal team members on complex litigations and regulatory and agency inquiries; â€¢Provides opinion, advice and analysis to academic and administrative offices regarding legal implications of policy decisions, complex contracts, scientific research projects and collaborations; â€¢Other responsibilities as assigned based on needs of the University and based on interest and experience of applicant.
