The Manufacturing Institute (MI), the workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers, is dedicated to supporting the manufacturing workforce of today and growing the manufacturing workforce of tomorrow. It does so through various programs designed to inspire, educate, and empower with a focus on four key areas: women, veterans, youth, and lifelong learning. The Institute also serves as the leading authority on data and research for the industry through its Center for Manufacturing Research, closely examining issues of importance to manufacturers to help understand them and illuminate what needs to be done to solve them.
Heroes MAKE America (HMA) is the Manufacturing Institute's initiative to build connections between the military community and manufacturing industry. Our signature program provides transitioning service members, veterans, Guard members, reservists, and military spouses with the skills and certifications to find and excel in manufacturing careers. The MI is committed to building and expanding the Heroes MAKE America, so we can assist our nation's service members in their transition to civilian life and fill open manufacturing jobs. We are looking for a dynamic, solutions-oriented individual to join our dedicated team and lead the development, operations, and growth of the innovative virtual Heroes training program. Responsibilities include direct administration of the program in collaboration with the Transition Assistance Programs (TAP) across all branches of the military, educational partners, community support organizations and industry representatives to support a highly successful virtual program that achieves a minimum consistent enrollment of 20-25 participants per class with a strong graduation and job placement rate ideally at 90% or higher. This position will require 25% of travel to build relationships with Transition Office personnel and promote the program to the military community. Day-to-day activities include class recruitment, course syllabus oversight, participant progress, cohort events, data collection, partner relationship management, and placement support. This position reports to the Vice President. A successful candidate for this position will be an enthusiastic individual who excels at multi-tasking and time management, enjoys public speaking and cultivating relationships, understands the interworking's of the military and transition timelines, likes implementing and completing a process, and exudes passion for supporting this population and the manufacturing industry.
Lead the development, operations, and growth of the virtual training program.
Meet overall program objectives, goals, and requirements to include candidate recruitment, applicant screening, placement support and data tracking.
Build and implement a virtual recruiting strategy to raise program visibility across the military community and maximize future enrollment.
Design virtual career training in alignment with the other locations in coordination with Texas State Technical College and engaging Heroes sponsors and partners.
Build partnerships with educational institutions to support hands-on assessments as needed upon program completion.
Work with virtual students throughout the life cycle of the program to continuously drive successful outcomes prioritizing course completion and placement.
Responsible for Commander approval packets for submission to the respective TAP offices.
Collaborate with the education partner to ensure that enrollment/funding paperwork for participants is successfully submitted.
Manage program data and track successes/ opportunities in Salesforce including student progress, placement, and manufacturer involvement.
Travel as needed with expectations at about 25%.
Manage the budget for the virtual training program.
Relationship Development/ Management
Serve as the primary MI virtual training liaison for military installations and program partners to include the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) teams, community, education, and industry partners
Support and grow relationships with the academic, workforce, economic development, and industry partners to ensure a positive experience for Heroes participants, raise visibility of HMA and invest in long-term success for the program.
Identify and engage MSO/VSO and community networks to support participants and meet program goals and deliverables.
Represent the MI at business and veteran association events as appropriate to advance the mission of Heroes MAKE America and the Institute.
Identify programmatic stories and draft content for internal and external social media and communication channels.
Contribute to the overall communications strategy and marketing campaign for the Heroes initiative.
Build virtual and in-person events to support program growth, recruiting, community partnerships and participant placement.
Collaborate with MI Program Managers to provide opportunities for virtual students located near onsite training locations to attend local events and plant tours.
Other duties as assigned to support the broader mission of Heroes MAKE America and The MI.
Bachelor's degree preferred
5-7 years proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position
Experience working with/on military installations
Experienced and comfortable with remote work environment
Salesforce experience preferred
Excellent time management and organization skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (writing sample required)
Knowledge of program management and development procedures
Experience in relationship building and management of multiple stakeholders
Experience working on social media platforms
Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office
Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams
