The Cytology supervisor is responsible for fulfilling the responsibilities as assigned by the Medical Director and for monitoring compliance with all applicable regulations of the board and of the Department. Maintains and collect Quality Control and Assurance activities data and generate statistics necessary for reporting to regulatory and accrediting agencies. Provides supervision, training, and evaluate and assess competency of cytotechnologists and Cytopreparatory technicians. Prepares plans of corrections if necessary.
SCT (ASCP) Specialist in Cytotechnology, ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE MUST BE PROVIDED
To be eligible for this examination category, an applicant must satisfy the requirements of at least one of the following routes: A Route of Eligibility MUST be selected when applying for examination.
ROUTE 1 • CT (ASCP) certification, a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and three years of full-time acceptable laboratory experience in cytology in the U.S., Canada or an accredited laboratory* within the last six years. These three years of experience must be obtained following CT (ASCP) certification.
ROUTE 2 • CT (ASCP) certification, a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and three years of full-time acceptable experience as an academic educator in cytology at a regionally accredited college/ university in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory* within the last six years. These three years of experience must be obtained following CT (ASCP) certification.
24 hours of continuing education every two years, Florida License.
Supervisors license to perform 10% rescreen for QC.
Baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university, AND successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnologist program within the last five years.
Minimum 5 years’ experience
Competency and performance evaluated from Director through metric system evaluation
