National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking an Intern to support The Manufacturing Institute. The NAM offers a variety of challenging and rewarding internships in our Washington, D.C. headquarters. Internships are designed to support academic objectives with real life work experience. Internships at the NAM challenge students to enhance their business skills, critical thinking abilities, and communication skills.
The Manufacturing Institute is the workforce and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers. It is dedicated to supporting the manufacturing workforce of today and growing the manufacturing workforce of tomorrow. It does so through a variety of programs designed to excite, educate, and empower (with a focus in four key areas: women, veterans, youth, and lifelong learning). In support of these programs, the Manufacturing Institute hosts an average of 36 virtual and in person events annually.
The Manufacturing Institute also serves as the leading authority on data and research for the industry through its Center for Manufacturing Research, closely examining issues of importance to manufacturers both to help understand them and illuminate what needs to be done to solve them.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and project support to the Institute's various programs
Assist with the logistics and planning of Institute events, internal and external
Provide communications support to the Institute by drafting and developing content for monthly and quarterly newsletters.
Write social media and blog posts for manufacturing communities (women, veterans, and youth engagement)
Develop web copy and update the website according to Institute guidelines
Contribute content for the monthly Board of Advisors update
Conduct research, track data, and update files for the Institute
Other project support as needed
Outstanding academic record
Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills
Organizational skills and project management skills
Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency
Some prior experience in a professional setting a plus but not required
Interest in gaining exposure to and experience in non-profit organizations and programs.
