The Research Associate will assist the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation with research activities. This position will mainly collaborate with investigators and teams to generate study designs and complete analyses for retrospective and prospective clinical research. Similar work for basic science research will be a smaller part of this position.
This position is also expected to work with investigators on data visualizations and the reporting of methods and results for manuscripts. A working knowledge of biostatistics and familiarity with statistical analysis software is required. There will be the opportunity for independence in design and implementation of clinical research studies and/or preparation of written manuscripts and, as applicable, grants and regulatory documentation. Independently interacts within the department to track and organize ongoing research efforts and outputs, for internal and external reports.
Assists in planning experimental design and/or designing research standard operating procedures (SOPs). Assumes responsibility for specific components of research projects. Demonstrates creativity and problem solving ability. Exercises judgment in taking independent action, and seeks advice as necessary. Responsible for training and supervising students and junior staff.Will be a member of the Departments Research Committee.
Masters degree with major courses inrelevant field and 3 years of relevantexperience OR Bachelor's degree with major courses in field of research and 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of univariate, multivariate,survival and other relevant clinicalresearch analystical methodologies
Knowledge of at least one statisticalanalysis program and relevant datavisualization techniques
Knowledge ofIRB procedures
Proficiency in MicrosoftOffice programs
Typing, editing, proofreading skills
Analytical and extremelydetail-oriented
Excellent communicationskills, both oral and written
This position will involve meetings as early as 6:15am once or twice a month, and 7:00am as often as once weekly.
Coursework or experience in biology-related subjects
Familiar with R statisticalprogramming language
Exceptional computerskills and ability to learn newsoftware
Documented coursework,program certifications, orexamples of coding from priorwork
