As the Privacy Director , you are the "go-to" privacy subject matter expert at McKesson's CoverMyMeds 's business unit (CMM). You'll own a broad range of healthcare privacy functions, including ensuring CMM remains compliant with applicable privacy laws and regulations, with a focus on HIPAA, HITECH and state privacy laws. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining a privacy compliance program, from policies, procedures and training, to monitoring on-going compliance. You will champion a culture of ethics and integrity through your partnerships with every level of the organization.
What You'll Do
The job content of all positions varies daily as everyone pitches in to get the job done. Nonetheless, we try to maintain clarity with respect to employees' primary responsibilities.
Provide significant privacy and related regulatory guidance and oversight.
Lead key initiatives and activities related to the development and implementation of the privacy compliance program including workforce training, procedures, monitoring, controls, risk mitigation planning and other privacy program activities.
Manage and drive privacy projects, including: HIPAA risk assessments, HIPAA audit readiness, systems and process review and documentation, and data breach response.
Grow and represent the privacy program in customer-facing engagements.
Respond to customer assessments and audits.
Help ensure CMM's continued compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, and policies.
Provide HIPAA subject matter expertise for data de-identification standards and data projects.
Create and/or manage online and live privacy awareness training.
Provide incident response strategy services and serve as the first responder for privacy incident response.
Develop and manage the Privacy-By-Design program.
Manage a team of privacy professionals.
You are a Subject Matter Expert on the privacy landscape, with a strong knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH. You understand and can identify privacy and related risk in a highly regulated healthcare environment. You have excellent communication and relationship management skills, allowing you to interact with technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization. You're self-motivated and comfortable driving multiple projects to completion in a high energy, fast-paced, complex setting.
12+ years of professional work experience
4+ years previous people management experience
6+ years' experience with healthcare privacy
Experience managing a small team
Record of success working with fast paced, technology clients
Previous experience with HIPAA privacy risk assessments and HIPAA privacy audits
Previous experience building a sustainable privacy program
Requires excellent communication and relationship management skills
Preference given to candidates with IAPP or HCCA credentials
Must be self-motivated with experience driving multiple projects to completion simultaneously
Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred
