Government Health Policy Research Leader - Deloitte Center for Government Insights
Deloitte Services LP includes internal support areas such as Marketing and Communications, Human Resources/Talent, Information Technology, Facilities Management, and Financial Support Services.
The Government Health Policy Research Leader at the Deloitte Center for Government Insights will be a key member of the Center's team by leading its health care research portfolio. S/he will support the research, writing and policy analysis of federal and state health issues. The primary output will be research papers and thought leadership that address key health care policy issues facing government agencies, including: CMS, MHS, FDA, VA, HHS, CDC, and state Medicaid agencies.
A major focus of the research leader's work will be understanding the potential to influence health costs and outcomes through emerging technology and data analytics. The aim of these deliverables is to provide practitioners and our clients meaningful insights while elevating Deloitte's intellectual brand. The research leader collaborates with Deloitte's government health practice leadership to identify, develop, and produce content related to health care policy and emerging technologies affecting the sector.

The Deloitte Center for Government Insights (DCGI), based in Washington, D.C., produces groundbreaking research and thought leadership to help government solve its most complex problems. Through forums and immersive workshops, the Center engages with public officials on a journey of positive transformation, crystallizing insights to help them understand trends, overcome constraints and expand the limits of what is possible.
The preferred location is Washington D.C, however we are open to candidates living elsewhere with the right qualifications. The position may require occasional travel to attend offsite meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions.
Undergraduate BA or BS
Master's degree (MPH or MPA) preferred
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in government health care research and policy analysis
Previous position(s) in consulting, public policy, government relations, think tanks, academia, or research related to government's role in health care
Subject Matter Qualifications
Broad knowledge of public health issues and technology a must.
Candidate should demonstrate a thorough knowledge of major aspects of the U.S. health delivery system and key concepts of interest in health services research.
Specific knowledge related to state Medicaid policy, IT systems, Medicare, the future of health a plus.
Strong writing skills with an ability to translate policy research into engaging story narratives
Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to think creatively and bring data and other analysis to policy issues
Exposure to and training in analytical methods, including: statistical methods, interpretation of statistical results; statistical software/visualization tools such as SPSS, Â® STATA, R, or Tableau is a plus
Self-starter, independent thinker and resourceful; ability to work effectively with others, many of whom may be geographically remote.
Strong people skills with an ability to shape/influence the strategic thinking of senior business executives (internal and external) on emerging issues/trends
Strong public speaking ability, including presenting papers and research at conferences, on webinars and in client meetings
Collegial and team-oriented; willing to pitch in and "wear many hats"
Build relationships and credibility with internal practice leaders by demonstrating consultative skills that generate demand for projects that are aligned with firm and Center priorities
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility and adaptability required
Ability to travel ~10% (While 10% travel may be required, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice.)
