This position is part of a dynamic team of committed professionals who strive for excellence and are continually looking for ways to improve processes both internally to Graduate Medical Education (GME) and for the program directors and coordinators. The Associate Director of Accreditation serves as an important member of the GME leadership team.
This position reports to the Director of Accreditation to assure that the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs at OHSU exceed requirements for accreditation, and fully address the Mission Statement for GME: OHSUs clinical training programs will provide excellent training in a humane environment for the future providers of health care for all. This position is foundational to the success of GME at OHSU and is part of a critical reorganization of the Division of GME. Without accredited programs, the immediate impact on the care provided at OHSU would be dramatic.
This position supports ACGME accredited (currently 87) programs. Tasks include creating processes and tools for the program directors and program coordinators to utilize when implementing OHSU, GME and ACGME rules and regulations. These processes include providing institutional oversight for all programs regardless of their accrediting body.
This position supports program directors primary function, which is advancing the quality of the education for trainees, instilling joy in the learning process, caring for patients in a safe and evidence-based manner and being role models of professionalism.
This position works significantly with ACGME requirements, since they impact the GME Committee and GME Sub-committees specifically, and as they relate to the Clinical Learning Environment Review and Common Program Requirements.
This position supervises the Senior Systems/Applications Analyst, whose major task is to create an interface to deliver patient care data from the electronic health record to trainees.
Experience in related field: education, compliance, legal, regulatory
Four years of working experience with regulatory bodies, and being facile with implementing requirements in a logical manner.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to retrieve information from multiple databases, spreadsheet programs and a willingness to increase computer skills as necessary
Strong leadership skills, including ability to positively motivate personnel and ensure effective project management
Experience developing and implementing systems and procedures; ability to apply critical thinking skills to processes and policies in order to maintain constant quality improvement
Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, work independently, use good judgment and monitor completion of project tasks
Ability to use judgment in making decisions or navigating unusual situations
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
Masters Degree or higher in adult education, leadership, or similar
Demonstrated experience in a large multi-campus higher education institution
Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and collaboratively across a broad range of stakeholders
Experience leading and managing change in a positive and inclusive manner
