Sole internal counsel for the hospital. Interact with hospital management, external counsel, various government agencies, trustees of the Board and various committees. Manage the majority of the various legal matters of the hospital. Work closely with outside counsel on transactional matters of risk and regulatory compliance, labor and employment issues, and board governance matters.

5 years of relevant experience in a hospital setting, healthcare environment or law firm, with practice primarily focused on healthcare law required.
Licensed to practice in Illinois required.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, writing skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization required.
Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues required.
Knowledge and understanding of healthcare laws and procedures required.
Sound judgment and ability to analyze situations required.
Solid knowledge of HIPAA, Affordable Care Act, Stark Law, False Claims Act, and Anti-Kickback law and EMTALA required.
Knowledge of not for profit tax/501c3 law required.
Superior problem solving, analytical, decision making and team building skills required.
Well organized with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects required.
Knowledge of Illinois Medicaid program preferred.
