![]() RSCH DATA ANL 3 (CDFA Pest Exclusion Project Analyst) Job Summary The Pest Surveillance Analyst is responsible for data analysis and epidemiological modeling for the Pest Exclusion Research project. The Analyst will also work with the Project Manager to help with project administration and interaction with some of the sub-awardees under the supervision of the Project Director. The Analyst will be expected to support the Project Director and Project Manager in developing analytical workflows for the data and in completing data analysis tasks. The Analyst will report on specific objectives to CDFA staff and will work with the Project Director and Project Manager to ensure that the project completes all contracted activities specified in the Scope of Work. POSITION INFORMATION PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sit for extended periods of time at a computer. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and maneuver in and out of a 4WD pickup truck or van. Must be able to carry equipment over uneven orchard ground for up to 1000 feet. Traverse over rough terrain on foot or in a vehicle. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work in a building where hazardous waste, potentially carcinogenic chemicals and many kinds of plant materials are used. The position allows for remote/teleworking. Must be able to occasionally work overtime and work at odd hours to accommodate other time zones. Position may require overnight traveling to deputize for the Project Manager or Project Director. QUALIFICATIONS Required: A Master of Science degree in a related plant science field such as Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Entomology, or equivalent combination of experience/training. Experience with the R statistical language and SQL for databases. Knowledge of regulatory and pest management programs run by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Experience with complex, longitudinal disease surveillance data sets. Experience with economic impact evaluations. Experience of modeling pest or pathogen population dynamics and principles of population control. Experience with creating and/or implementing protocols for the collection, storage and analysis of sensitive, legally protected data. Preferred: Experience with complex, longitudinal disease surveillance data sets. Experience at advanced level of R and SQL. Experience with economic impact evaluations. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check This position is a critical position and subject to a background check.
