The Deputy Director of Hospitals, utilizing operations and clinical expertise, coordinates and monitors the State-wide continuum of hospital services. Job duties will include: Providing oversight of Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Services within MDH Operations; Planning and developing new service programming; Coordinating Performance Improvement across MDH Operations; Coordinating Utilization Review and Analytics across MDH Operations; Coordinating Staff Development and Training across MDH Operations; and, Providing specialized programmatic, consultative and service to MDH Operations.
This position will oversee nine (9) hospital facilities with over 1,100 beds located throughout the State of Maryland that are licensed and also accredited by The Joint Commission. This includes five (5) inpatient psychiatric facilities, including the State's only maximum-security psychiatric facility; two (2) Regional Institutes for Children and Adolescents (mental health residential treatment facilities); and two (2) chronic care hospitals.
Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least 6 years of professional experience overseeing hospital and/or residential health services and 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Desired candidates should possess the following:
A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree, Medical Doctor (MD) Degree, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree, Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Health, or Master of Health Administration Degree;
Prior experience (4 or more years) successfully managing one or more acute care or psychiatric health care facilities accredited by The Joint Commission;
Strong management and analytical skills, including the ability to decipher needs and insights from data;
Experience developing comprehensive and large-scale reports and presentations for executive-level leadership;
Experience addressing licensure and accreditation issues at acute care or specialty health care facilities;
Extensive knowledge of behavioral health management practices and clinical operations;
An advanced knowledge of state and federal regulatory and various accreditation requirements related to acute care and behavioral health care management;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
Passion for superior clinical outcomes/programs, superior patient satisfaction, and partner relationships; and,
Proven ability to instill in teams a drive toward effective and efficient solutions.
