The University of Denver is pleased to announce an open-rank search for a half-time Professor of the Practice in the Douglas and Mary Scrivner Institute of Public Policy at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. The position offers an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced policy practitioner to contribute to a robust public policy curriculum, research program, and set of dialogues, and help build the Institute's engagement, impact, and visibility locally, nationally, and internationally.
We seek to hire a half-time expert practitioner in the area of democratic policy-making processes. Priority areas of desirable experience include, but are not limited to, budgeting, legislative processes, lobbying, public administration, regulatory formulation and implementation, policy maker-media relations, cultivating public trust in institutions, and/or the role of expertise in policy making.
We seek candidates with broad expertise and competence in public policy. We anticipate that successful candidates will teach three courses per year, the equivalent of a half-time faculty position. The search is multidisciplinary and we welcome candidates trained in the fields of public policy, economics, law, political science, sociology, anthropology, urban studies, geography, and adjacent social science fields. Candidates with prior teaching experience and a record of publishing, as well as expertise in building programs of civic engagement and discourse, are particularly encouraged to apply.

By relaunching the University's public policy program that has existed since the mid-1980s, the Scrivner Institute and the Korbel School together are creating an innovative, local-to-global public policy enterprise that trains students to meet 21st-century challenges in both domestic and international spheres. Supporting path-breaking, multidisciplinary research and local, national, and international policy engagement are critical components of the Institute's vision.
The Scrivner Institute of Public Policy is strongly aligned with the University of Denver's strategic plan, DU Impact 2025 and is committed to the student experience, experiential learning, and serving the public good. It offers an undergraduate major in public policy and a Master of Public Policy degree, both of which have great potential to grow in innovative programming and enrollment.

5-10 years of experience as a policy practitioner, at the local, state, or federal level in the United States.
Ability to teach core public policy courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels (e.g., Introduction to Policy Analysis, Politics and the Policy-Making Processes) as well as offer specialized courses focused on the candidate's expertise in policy processes.
Master's degree or higher.
More than 10 years of experience as a policy practitioner, at the local, state, or federal level in the United States.
Successful teaching experience.
Track record in research and publication.

Salary Range The salary range for this half-time position is $50,000 - $60,000.
