Position Summary The HR Specialist provides support to human resource functions of the School with a primary focus on Risk Management and Training & Development. The position requires an experienced HR professional with a high-EQ who can navigate complex employment relations challenges and provide thoughtful guidance to school leadership. This position will also work in partnership with the CF&OO, Head of School, Dean of Faculty and/or designee. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following) Risk Management/Employee Relations • Lead employee safety protocols, particularly as it relates to COVID-19 • Support safety initiatives in partnership with Safety Committee/Emergency Response Team • Provide guidance on employee relations and counsel on employee performance management, conflict management and employee engagement to School leadership • Develop and recommend employment relations strategies • Lead investigations and complaint resolutions ensuring investigations are conducted and written findings and recommendations are developed in an objective and thorough manner • Maintain understanding of School policies and practices and knowledge of relevant compliance needs • Provide timely, accurate direction and information to all employees • Manage all aspects of Workers’ Compensation Insurance (claims, audit, renewals, etc.) • Assist HR Manger with employee accommodations Training & Development • Provide training on harassment prevention and other HR-related matters • Design and lead professional development opportunities • Develop and manage School-wide performance evaluations process • Coach employees on corrective actions and performance improvement Additional Human Resources Support • Maintain personnel files and the confidentiality of employment records • Support employee hiring/on-boarding, benefits administration and leaves management as needed • Serve as a backup to payroll processing • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications (minimum requirements) • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred • 5+ years of progressive human resources with an emphasis in employee relations or training and development preferred • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills with all community members (students to adults) • Strong working knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance • Strong project management skills with the ability to independently drive programs • Ability to demonstrate solid judgement and provide guidance on risk management • Ability to demonstrate empathy • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office/G Suite and HRIS/Payroll systems • Experience with Title IX compliance preferred Work Schedule: ~24-28 hours per week (minimal hours on evenings/weekends required) This position may be subject to unpaid time off during school breaks/holidays. |
