Apply specialized knowledge and training to work on contracts and complex grants (e.g. grants with embedded collaborative agreements, Gates Foundation award) involving high level contacts. Serves as the primary draft or/negotiator for non-funding research agreements (Memoranda of understanding, Non-Disclosure, Data Use, Software Licenses, etc.).
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Negotiate grants and contracts from all sources, approve disclosure agreements re-write terms and conditions, change boilerplates, revises complex terms such as indemnification.
Perform contracting for complex commercial clinical trial agreements.
Participate in training/guidance of staff and faculty in clinical research compliance and clinical research systems and administration.
Transforms new/revised regulatory language to practice through writing policies, procedures, contract language, and boilerplates.
Advanced degree (PhD, JD, MS) in related field and relevant specialized training.
Three years related experience.
Proficiency with sponsored research agreement drafting and negotiation required.
Formal training and experience in sponsored research administration, intellectual property management and related topics required.
Demonstrated ability to perceive administrative and regulatory issues and conceptualize how to find solutions and research consensus and to complete complex tasks.
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of graduate education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
