Purchasing Buyer: To establish, measure, develop, and maintain supplier relationships with steel suppliers that deliver competitive advantage contracts through strategic cost, quality, and delivery, and service positions. Sustain effective supply management policies and procedures appropriate to the company’s quality management system and to insure effective control over buying authority. Lead, manage, report, and communicate across the organization encouraging cross-functional cooperation with other functions.

Undertake decision-making and personal responsibility for your assigned “buy” of Seats overall procurement budget.
Assist the Purchasing Manager in all other tasks deemed necessary and important to the smooth operation of the purchasing department. Including, but not limited to, formulating strategic purchasing plans, establishing and achieving departmental performance measures, and assisting purchasing-planner in the course of their work.
Willingness to pursue continuing education opportunities and related training to improve skillset.
Screen, select, and evaluate qualified suppliers.
Monitor supplier(s) performance(s) and take corrective action to remedy sub-performance in areas of on-time delivery, quality, cost, and responsiveness.
Conduct all necessary and required activities associated with material procurement—MRP inputs, including but not limited to, part planning, cost contracts, lead-time determination, part number and supplier records.
Process manufacturing material demands into purchase orders and transmit these orders to our suppliers on a timely basis.
Provide the necessary and required follow-up to insure a continuous and uninterrupted flow of needed materials to support Seats’ manufacturing activities.
Take active measures to control the cost of inventory.
Undertake, prepare, and evaluate the RFI, RFP, and RFQ process.
Achieve purchased cost savings for the company.
Insure that all components/materials purchased comply with all applicable regulatory and customer specific requirements.
Secure/develop data on supplier financial health. Materials, commodities, procurement methods, and markets—primary and secondary.
Undertake data-based analysis to support decision making.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required. Certifications from ISM or APICS a plus.
Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.
Self-directed orientation with excellent time management and problem solving skills.
Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft applications.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of management
Working knowledge of and experience with purchasing processes/procedures.
Willingness to travel occasionally.
