About this role
Overview:
Regulatory Operations is a growing team responsible for designing, implementing & leading all aspects of BlackRock's regulatory processes. Our team is part of the Technology and Operations function at BlackRock which makes up around one third of the firm's employees!

The Regulatory Operations team plays a key role; we own many of BlackRock's most complex and critical regulatory reporting processes. We also acts as the translation layer between Legal & Compliance, Technology, and Operations teams. Working in Regulatory Operations requires strong problem solving skills, and provides you with opportunities and challenges to demonstrate this. It also requires excellent communication skills to deliver key messages across all levels of the firm.

Your role would involve analyzing new and changing regulatory obligations and understanding their impact on BlackRock's business. You'll need to connect internally with various SME's and project teams to understand how BlackRock is responding to those changes and seek to identify risks within the projects and across the firm. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys shifting challenges and ambiguous environments, thinks creatively, possesses the confidence to have an opinion, takes the initiative and thrives under close scrutiny and tight deadlines.

This role will be responsible for increasing transparency into the pipeline of regulatory change, and to the regulatory and operational risk of key processes.
The role will require working closely with Legal & Compliance, Operational Risk and various Business Operations teams to maintain and communicate 2 key data sets:
  • The pipeline of new regulatory asks impacting BlackRock's operating model
  • The inventory of existing regulatory processes including their risk profile and health
Using these data points the individual will facilitate management transparency and decision making around priorities and action plans. The role holder will be responsible for the operation of these two data sets and for establishing a presence in the firm as a subject matter expert in relation to the information contained within them.

Key responsibilities:
  • Liaise with a network of colleagues in Legal & Compliance, Government Relations, and Risk, in addition to external sources to collect, track and report regulatory projects for the firm.
  • Maintain the inventory of regulatory operational processes and monitor the risk profile.
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Experience of working in the financial services industry across a wide range of products
  • Experience of Financial Services Regulations, ideally as they relate to asset managers
  • Experience owning processes
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong English Language skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong IT Skills, Excel crucial
