Degree in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management; Food & Nutrition; Food Science, or related Agriculture, Science, or Business. Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal laws/policies regarding food safety and food quality assurance. Experience inspecting and conducting internal workplace audits for food service compliance and quality. Experience establishing processes to adhere with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMT) & Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards. Experience training food service staff on new information or procedures.
This Quality Assurance Specialist I position is for the Dining Department at Iowa State University.
Summary Creates policies, procedures, and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components, and operations. Maintains the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures, quality audits, and reviews.
Example of Duties â¢ Conducts internal quality controls to ensure established quality procedures and norms are followed. â¢ Conducts technical and/or complex quality analysis and tests of a quality control program. â¢ Recommends necessary quality procedure changes. â¢ Monitors and records inconsistencies with quality procedures and norms. â¢ Prepares reports on rejected or defective products. â¢ Assists in the development of new methods and procedures.
