Senior Building and Grounds Worker

*THE HORMEL INSTITUTE IS LOCATED IN AUSTIN, MN, APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ROCHESTER, MN, AND APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES SOUTH OF MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL. * 

The Hormel Institute’s Senior Building and Grounds Worker, reporting to the Building and Grounds System Manager, acts as the team lead for the Building and Grounds working team.

Shift schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
60% - Performs Building and Grounds Team Lead responsibilities

• Assists the Building and Grounds Manager in the review of checklist, schedule for team duties, coordinates assignments, and work instructions to the team
• Coordinate team work schedules in case of absences
• Works as part of the Building and Grounds Team to perform regular and ongoing custodial and maintenance duties as scheduled
• Inspects buildings for cleanliness and condition of building hardware, fixtures, windows, etc.
• Creates reports to the manager on: items needing repairs and adjustments to cleaning regiments
• Assists in conducting on-the-job training for Building and Grounds workers in the use of custodial tools and equipment
• Assures proper storage and preventative maintenance of work equipment, custodial supplies, and machinery
• Assist manager by coordinating with contractors for regular and ongoing services
• Oversees the use of custodial supplies by ordering, receiving, distributing, and maintaining an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment

35% - Performs Building and Grounds Team Lead responsibilities of custodial and grounds duties in support of special projects and events at The Hormel Institute

• Coordinate the team scheduling and work plan with the manager for planning needs of special projects and events
• Assist manager by coordinating with external contractors and internal regulatory departments for special projects and events.
• Coordinate the lab and office clean out process along with any necessary repairs/replacements as needed

5% - Other related duties as assigned
